McKinney Roots is a 100% food donation garden for the city of McKinney. We supply naturally grown fresh produce to the food insecure by distributing them to local services and schools. We are dedicated to improving health and sustainability in our local community. We engage the community by developing a strong volunteer base and providing an educational program about growing practices and health benefits of fresh produce.
16% of McKinney families struggles to provide meals for themselves and their families. 9.8% of children in McKinney are below the poverty line. 7600 children in McKinney qualify for free and reduced meal programs. With five acres of land to garden, McKinney Roots will see a significant improvement in physical health for all participating community members.
